Alaska Aces News Release

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah - Igor Bobkov made 29 saves and the Utah Grizzlies used a pair of goals in the second period to defeat the Alaska Aces, 2-0 on Wednesday before 2,241 fans at Maverik Center.

The Aces were blanked for the first time this season and goaltender Olivier Roy made 32 saves while taking the loss.

The Aces owned the first nine of 13 shots in the game and took a scoreless tie into the dressing room at the end of the first period, but fell behind when Michael Pelech threw a sharp-angled shot at the net at 5:04 of the second period for a 1-0 lead which deflected off Roy's right pad.

Kris Hogg then cashed in on his fifth goal of the season at 16:54 for a 2-0 edge when he went to the front of the net and deflected Teigan Zahn's one-timer past Roy's blocker.

The Aces, already forced to adjust with the loss of Andy Taranto after his collision with Danick Paquette in the second period, came up empty on an early power play to begin the third period. Bobkov made eight saves in the final frame to put the game away.

NOTES: The Aces scratched Zach Davies, Sean Curry, Shawn Skelly and Ben Parker ... the Aces had their three game winning streak against the Grizzlies snapped and fell to 55-18-3 in the lifetime series ... Tommy Mele fought Paquette at the 14:36 mark of the third period.

Both teams face a rematch on Friday at 5:05 pm (103.7 FM/750 AM KFQD) in Utah. Season ticket and sponsorship packages are currently available through the Aces office at 15th & Gambell.
