Kalamazoo Wings News Release

Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings, proud members of the United Hockey League, announce the completion of a trade with the Flint Generals for defenseman Rumun Ndur (RO-man na-DERR). To complete the trade, the K-Wings sent the rights of forward Sean Starke to the Generals.

The addition of Ndur, 30, will bring size and experience to an already solid K-Wings defensive core. The 10-year pro has played seven of those seasons in either the National Hockey League (NHL) or American Hockey League.

After playing three seasons of Junior "A" hockey with the Guelph Storm of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), Ndur was selected in the 3rd round (69th overall pick) in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft by the Buffalo Sabres.

"Rumun knows what we expect from him; we want players that will show up to play every night and give 110 percent," said Vice President/General Manager Paul L. Pickard. "He (Ndur) has mentioned to us (K-Wings), that he hated to play against Kalamazoo because he knew our team would never take a night off."

The native of Zaria, Nigeria, who now resides in Canada, will need time to get the proper immigration and to get in hockey shape, but will report to Kalamazoo immediately.

"He (Ndur) and his family just recently had their second child and he wanted to have his family life in order before getting back to focusing on playing," said Pickard. "He feels that the K-Wings were a perfect fit for him and his family and they agree there is no better place than Kalamazoo."
