Mizzi and Reynaert earn monthly honors

LAKE ST. LOUIS, MO--- The United Hockey League (UHL) announced Tuesday that Rockford IceHogs center Preston Mizzi has been named Sher-Wood UHL Player of the Month and Kalamazoo Wings goaltender Jeff Reynaert has been named Southern Sports Supply UHL Goaltender of the Month for October.

Mizzi finished the first month of the 2005-06 season with 11 points (9g, 2a) and a plus-4 rating in six games played. He scored goals in five of six games and had three multi-goal games, including a hat trick (3g) vs. the Missouri River Otters on Friday, October 28th. The 24-year-old Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario native currently leads the UHL with nine goals and is tied for the league lead in scoring (11 pts) and shots on goal (33). Mizzi has three power play goals, one shorthanded goal, and has helped lead the IceHogs to a 6-0-0 record to start the season.

Other players nominated for the Sher-Wood UHL Player of the Month include: Adirondack right wing Kevin Watters, Danbury forward Drew Omicioli, Elmira right wing Jarrett Konkle, Flint forward Leo Thomas, Fort Wayne left wing P.C. Drouin, Kalamazoo center Tyler Rennette, Missouri center Damian Surma, Motor City center Greg Bullock, Muskegon center Todd Robinson, Port Huron left wing Brian Felsner, Quad City forward Chad Woollard, Richmond defenseman Dan Vandermeer, and Roanoke right wing Mark Scott.

Reynaert completed the month with a 2-0-0 record, a .980 save percentage (SPCT), a 0.50 goals against average (GAA), and one shutout. He stopped all 29 Motor City shots to earn the 6-0 victory and record the first shutout in the UHL this season on Friday, October 28th. The following night he turned away 20 of 21 shots in Kalamazoo's 4-1 victory vs. Fort Wayne. The 26-year-old Sterling Heights, Michigan native currently leads the UHL in GAA (0.50) and SPCT (.980). Reynaert was also recently named Southern Sports Supply UHL Goaltender of the Week for the second week of the 2005-06 UHL season.
