Countdown to Face-off Kalamazoo Wings Vs Port Huron Beacons Wings Stadium Friday, January 31, 2003 7:30 PM

Game Preview It will be a big game for both teams tonight as the K-Wings and the Beacons face-off at Wings Stadium. The K-Wings enter the contest just two points out of fourth place in the Western Conference. A K-Wings victory coupled with a Rockford loss in Adirondack to place the K-Wings a fourth place tie with the IceHogs.

For the Beacons, they enter tonight's game trying to avoid a sub .500 record for the first time in franchise history. The Beacons, who started the season as the hottest team in the UHL, have cooled off. Port Huron enters the game in fourth place in the UHL and with a record of 22-22-5.

While the K-Wings lead the season series over the Beacons, each game has been nip and tuck. Each of the K-Wings victories has been decided by only 1 goal. While each of the games have been goaltending duels, it will be tough to repeat the last game between the teams. On January 17th in Port Huron, the two teams played to a 0-0 tie in regulation, however it was the K-Wings who would win the game 1-0 in a shootout. Both Chad Alban and Kory Cooper are in the top 10 among goaltenders in the UHL, and with both goaltenders on top of their games, we can expect another classic encounter between the K-Wings and the Beacons.
