Dayton Bombers News Release

Jamie Ling recorded his 500th career ECHL point on a second period assist, then added a short-handed goal as insurance as the Dayton Bombers snapped a two-game losing streak with a 3-1 victory over the Mississippi Sea Wolves at the Ervin J. Nutter Center

After a scoreless opening period, the Bombers grabbed the game's first goal 2:22 into the second when newcomer Yann Joseph intercepted goalie Greg Gardner's clearing attempt and sent the puck into an empty net.

Ling then helped set up Tom Nemeth's power play tally with just 19 seconds remaining in the middle frame. Nemeth's initial shot was stopped but, while falling down, he put his own rebound past Gardner to give the Bombers a 2-0 lead. For Ling, whose ECHL career began in 1996-1997 with the Mobile Mysticks, the assist was his 500th point in "The Coast."

Nemeth sprung Ling free for a short-handed, breakaway score 5:02 into the third period to give the Bombers a 3-0 lead. Mississippi's Travis Lisabeth spoiled goalie Shane Bendera's shutout bid, however, with 12 seconds remaining on a wrist shot from the face-off circle. Bendera finished with 22 saves in his eighth straight start. The Bombers ended the game 1 for 6 on the power play and killed off all seven Mississippi Sea Wolves' man-advantage chances.

Tomorrow, the Bombers will host the Roanoke Express for a 7:30 p.m. game. The Bombers' navy blue road jerseys, featuring burgundy and gold trim, will be auctioned off during proceedings held on the Ervin J. Nutter Center "Flight Deck" concourse after the game.

On Sunday versus the Trenton Titans (6:00 p.m.), the Bombers will partner with Jaffe & Gross- The Jewelry Company in downtown Dayton to host "Who's Got the Real Diamond? ... The Search Continues!" Night. Earlier this season, 500 ladies received a stone packet from Jaffe & Gross- The Jewelry Company (461-9450) during an in-game promotion. One of those 500 ladies was lucky enough to receive a free Round Brilliant Cut 1/2 carat diamond. However, somewhat mysteriously, the diamond still has not been found and, therefore, a winner has not yet been unearthed! At "Who's Got the Real Diamond? ... The Search Continues Night," Jaffe & Gross- The Jewelry Company will have a mini jewelry display (focusing on but not limited to heart motif designs) on the Nutter Center concourse as fans prepare for their Valentine's Day shopping. Jaffe & Gross will also have diamond testers at the game. Should no lady who received a stone in the promotion earlier this season step forward as a winner in the preceding games of the weekend homestand (Friday, January 31 vs. Mississippi and Saturday, February 1 vs. Roanoke), Jaffe & Gross- The Jewelry Company will have their testers at the game to help determine a winner. The Bombers will also be having another Kids' Club Sunday Presented by Capn' Bogey's at that game and will be a holding a free pre-game skate from 4:00-5:00 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased by calling 937-775-4747, by logging onto www.daytonbombers.com, or by visiting the Nutter Center Box Office.
