DAYTON, Ohio – The Mississippi kicked off a six-game, eight-day road swing by falling 3-1 against the Dayton Bombers.

After a scoreless opening period, Dayton (17-23-7) tallied first at the 2:22 mark. Sea Wolves goaltender Greg Gardner, playing his first game against his former team, came out to the left circle to play a loose puck, but Yann Joseph stole it and deposited into the gaping cage. The goal for Joseph was his sixth on the year and first with Dayton after being claimed off waivers from Baton Rouge on January 24.

Late in the second, Dayton capitalized on the power play at 19:41. Veteran defenseman Tom Nemeth pinched in from the right point and shoveled in a rebound to notch his seventh of the season. Bombers forward Jamie Ling picked up an assist, which was his 500th point in his East Coast Hockey League career.

Mississippi (26-15-4) peppered 16 shots on Dayton goaltender Shane Bendera, but were unable to tally.

In the third, Ling broke in all alone while shorthanded. He slapped it through Gardner at the 5:02 mark, making it 3-0 for Dayton.

Sea Wolves' forward Travis Lisabeth spoiled the shutout bid for Bendera by scoring with just 11 seconds remaining in regulation. Lisabeth unleashed a wrist shot from the right circle over the netminder's left shoulder, registering his 12th of the campaign.

Gardner turned away 39 of 42, dropping his record to 20-11-4. Bendera stopped 22 of 23, raising his record to 12-14-4.

Mississippi failed to convert on seven chances with the man advantage. Dayton went 1-for-5 on the power play.

Prior to the game, the Sea Wolves activated forward John Evangelista off the seven-day injured reserve.
