August 10, 2019 - American Association (AA)
Texas AirHogs News Release
The AirHogs handed Zech Lemond a 3-0 lead as well as a 5-3 lead at different points in the game tonight, unfortunately the AirHogs righty was unable to hold either lead, as the AirHogs fall to the T-Bones 6-5.
The AirHogs scored three first inning runs jumping out to a 3-0 lead. Javion Randle lead the game off with a ringing double to straight away center. Following a Li Ning bunt single the AirHogs had runners on the corners with no outs. Ijames would provide a sacrifice fly before Chen Junpeng hit an opposite field homer, his second of the season, putting the Hogs up 3-0.
Zech Lemond would not be able to hold the lead. He allowed the first two batters Dylan Tice and Mason Davis to reach via a walk and hit to start the bottom of the first. Then after getting two outs he allowed back to back doubles to Gillespie and O'Malley, thing the game at 3.
Chen Junpeng singled to start the third before Matt Dean doubles putting runners on second and third with no outs. Junpeng scored on a passed ball before Dean came home on an opposite field doublenfrom Yang Jin. Jin Brady homered to the same spot as Junpeng.
Again Lemond could not hold the lead in the bottom of the third. Chris Collabello homered making it 5-4 before O'Malley scored from first on a Christian Correa infield single. It was an unbelievable play. The throw from Yang Jin got away from Junpeng and O'Malley read it perfectly.
After taking a lead in the 5th on a passed ball Kansas City went to the bullpen and had great results. 3 relievers combined for 4.1 innings of shutout baseball.
The AirHogs bullpen offered three innings of perfect, shutout baseball from Perez, Contreras, and Eibner keeping the game close. But I'm the end the AirHogs could not get the big hit when it was needed.
The AirHogs and T-bones are back at it tomorrow,. First pitch tomorrow is scheduled for 1:05. The AirHogs are going with RHP Erik Manoah and the Kansas City T-Bones are TBD.
