WINSTON-SALEM, NC (APRIL 15, 2010) - NASCAR Legend and North Carolina native Junior Johnson will throw out the ceremonial first pitch at tonight's Winston-Salem Dash game. The Dash plays the Potomac Nationals in the final game of a three-game series tonight at 7 p.m.

Junior Johnson is a NASCAR legend who was selected as one of five individuals included in the NASCAR Hall of Fame Charter Class of 2010. He won 50 races during his 14-year driving career (1953-66), including the 1960 Daytona 500 and in 1998 was named one of the 50 Greatest Drivers in the sport.

Johnson, a native of Wilkes County, NC, was also highly successful as a team owner for more than 30 years. His roster of drivers included legends like LeeRoy Yarbrough, Cale Yarborough, and Darrell Waltrip, among others. Johnson's drivers won 139 races (third all-time for team owners) and six Winston Cup Championships.

Johnson is the second celebrity to throw the ceremonial first pitch this week at BB&T Ballpark. Chicago White Sox Senior Vice President/General Manager Kenny Williams threw the first pitch on Opening Night.

The Dash's inaugural home stand at BB&T Ballpark continues through Sunday when the Kinston Indians visit Winston-Salem for a three-game series.
