WINSTON-SALEM, NC (APRIL 15, 2010) - Drew Garcia's RBI single to center capped a three-run tenth inning rally as the Dash erased a two-run deficit to beat the Potomac Nationals 7-6 on Thursday night at BB&T Ballpark. Winston-Salem blew two two-run leads in the contest before erupting with three in the tenth off Nationals closer Clayton Dill. The win clinched the first series victory of the season for Winston-Salem.

The Dash jumped out to a 1-0 lead on Brandon Short's leadoff home run in the first inning. It was the first time Winston (4-3) had scored the first run over the course of the three-game series.

Joe McEwing's squad added to its advantage in the third when Seth Loman's single scored Eduardo Escobar, who led off the inning with a double.

But the Nationals (2-5) stormed back in the sixth inning against a tiring Nate Jones. The Dash starter pitched five shutout innings before allowing three straight hits in the sixth. The last base knock drove in Potomac's first run of the game and Jones was lifted without retiring a man in the inning. Charlis Burdie retired all three batters he faced in relief of Jones, but one groundout scored Tyler Moore to tie the game at two.

Winston-Salem re-claimed a two-run lead in the seventh inning with an RBI triple from Justin Greene and a run-scoring single by Short.

The Dash turned to Santos Rodriguez to get through the eighth, but the lefty allowed a run before loading the bases with one out. Tyson Corley entered the game and struck out back-to-back batters to end the inning with Winston clinging to a 4-3 lead.

Potomac eventually tied in the game in the ninth inning against Dash reliever Gregory Infante, who allowed a two-out RBI triple to Moore that knotted the contest at four apiece. Winston-Salem was retired in order in the bottom of the ninth to send the game into extra innings.

The P-Nats continued their surge in the tenth inning. Brian Peacock walked and reached second on a sacrifice bunt. With Dylan Axelrod (1-0) pitching, Nicholas Moresi singled to shortstop to put men on the corners with one out.

Nick Arata then swung through what appeared to be a suicide squeeze and Peacock was caught in a rundown between third base and home. He scored, however, when Jon Gilmore failed to throw the ball while chasing Peacock toward home plate. Moresi went to third on the play and scored another run on Arata's groundout to make it 6-4 Potomac.

The Dash started its tenth inning rally with one out. Dill (0-2) walked Josh Phegley, and allowed back-to-back singles by Loman and Gilmore, the latter scoring Phegley from third and cutting the deficit to 6-5. After an intentional walk to Kenny Williams, Jr., Kyle Shelton hit a sacrifice fly to deep center to tie the game at six.

Garcia drilled a 2-2 pitch to center, scoring Gilmore and sending the Dash to its first walk-off win in 2010.

Winston-Salem welcomes the Kinston Indians to town on Friday night for the first of a three-game weekend series. The two teams split four games in eastern North Carolina to start the season. Dash LHP Charlie Leesman (0-1, 3.00) faces UNC alumnus Alex White (1-0, 0.00) for the second-straight start.

First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. The webcast pre-game show begins at 6:45 on www.wsdash.com.
