Frederick Keys News Release
The Keys entered Thursday night's game looking for their first five-game winning streak since the 2006 season but did not prevail. Frederick lost big to Myrtle Beach, 15-5. Keys' pitchers walked a total of 11 Pelicans on the night and Frederick committed three errors in the field. The Pelicans never trailed in the game thanks to an Adam Milligan two-run homerun in the top of the first. Myrtle Beach scored a run in each of the first four innings and led 7-4 after four.
After a scoreless fifth for the Pelicans, they tacked on seven more runs in the sixth even though they only one hit in the inning. In his first action of the season, Brett Bordes walked five and allowed five to score while Sean Gleason surrendered the other two runs. Myrtle Beach added another run in the ninth and finished the night with a season-high, 15 runs.
Offensively for the Keys, Kyle Hudson, Joe Mahoney, Bobby Stevens, and Wally Crancer each had an RBI on the evening. Mahoney upped his season RBI total to 12, which is currently tops in the Carolina League. Crancer and Hudson each picked up their first RBI of the season on Thursday night.
Ryan O'Shea fell to 0-2 on the year as he allowed seven runs (five earned) on seven hits while striking out three and walking two. Yeliar Castro picked up the win in relief for Myrtle Beach. He improved to 2-0 on the season. Pelicans' starting pitcher, Cole Rohrbough, got a no decision as he pitched 2 1/3 innings surrendering four runs on six hits.
