ICYMI: Joseph Odom hit a home run in game two and Joey Meneses had three hits over games one and two of the twin bill while raising his average to a league high .345, but the Mudcats lost both games of their doubleheader in Lynchburg 7-3 and 9-4 respectively on Tuesday night.
ON TO THE NEXT ONE: The Mudcats conclude a three-day road trip in Lynchburg tonight with the finale of a four game series against the Hillcats at City Stadium. The Mudcats lost both games of a doubleheader yesterday and are 5-8 against the Hillcats this season. The Mudcats enter tonight's game at 27-36 this season and in third place in the Carolina League Southern Division Standings. The Hillcats are 42-23 and clinched the Northern Division First Half Championship on Sunday with a 3-2 home victory against Myrtle Beach. It was Lynchburg's second straight half championship (2015 Second Half Champions).
STARTING OFF: Enderson Franco starts for the Mudcats in tonight's series finale in Lynchburg against the Hillcats. Franco enters tonight's game at 4-3 with a 4.64 ERA over 12 starts this season. He allowed nine earned runs on 12 hits over 2.0 innings in his first start on opening night in Salem, but is 4-2 and has pitched to the league's 5th best earned run average at 3.28 ERA ever since. Franco is currently 5th in the league in FIP (3.26), 6th in K/BB (3.79) and has pitched to the 3rd highest BABIP among qualified Carolina League starters at .354. Franco last pitched on 6/10 against Winston-Salem and earned his first win since 5/7 after holding the Dash to just one run on four hits over 6.0 innings pitched. He earned his fourth straight quality start his last time out and is 1-1 with a 2.50 ERA over his last three starts (18.0ip, 16h, 6r, 5er, 3bb, 14so).
MASHING MENESES: Joey Meneses was a combined 3-for-6 with a double over both games of yesterday's doubleheader in Lynchburg. He is batting .564/.595/.872 over his last 10 games with seven doubles, one triple, one home run and 12 RBI. Meneses is also batting a league best .382 since April 23 (.382/.439/.576, 46g, 65h, 22xbh, 16 2b, 1 3b, 5hr, 31rbi). He was recently named the Carolina League Player of the Week for the week ending on June 12.
HEATING UP: Stephen Gaylor has hit safely in four straight games and is batting .524/.583/.524 (11-for-21, 7r, 3bb, 2sb) during the streak and since returning from a short stint with Triple-A Gwinnett on 6/10... Joseph Odom has hit safely in 18 of his last 21 games and is batting .325/.368/.563 (26-for-80, 4hr, 14rbi) over his last 21 games.
