Last time out...

The Florence Freedom (18-24), presented by Titan Mechanical Solutions, couldn't get the bats going in a 1-0 loss to the Rockford Aviators (25-14) Thursday night. The loss snaps the Freedom's four-game winning streak. Jeremy Gooding (2-2) was outstanding in the loss for Florence, going six and two thirds innings, allowing only one run on five hits and striking out five batters. The Freedom tallied six hits and drew five walks but were unable to push across a run against five different Rockford pitchers. Florence left 10 men on base in the loss. They left the bases loaded in the fourth and left the tying and winning runs on base in both the eighth and ninth innings. Florence also hit into two double plays in the contest. Meanwhile Elijah Trail hit a solo home run in the seventh for the only run of the game for either team. Kyle Carter (2-4) and Justin Harris (2-2) recorded multi-hit game for Florence. Harris also drew two walks.

For Starters...

Coleman Stephens makes his ninth start of the season tonight for the Freedom. He is coming off a no-decision against Windy City on June 27 as Stephens went six and a third innings, giving up five runs, two of them earned on 10 hits in an 8-6 loss for Florence. The Freedom have lost six consecutive games started by Stephens. He won his first two games of the season, with his most recent win coming on May 19 against the Frontier Greys. Stephens faced River City on June 10, an 8-1 loss for Florence. He went seven and a third innings, allowing seven runs, five of them earned, on 11 hits. 2015 is his fourth season of professional baseball and his second go-around in the Frontier League. Florence acquired Stephens as part of a three-team trade on December 28, 2014, which saw Jacob Tanis head to Windy City. The right-hander made his professional debut in 2012 with the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings of the North American Baseball League. Stephens split the 2013 season between the Fort Worth Cats of the United League and the Frontier Greys, compiling an 8-3 record in 20 appearances, 18 starts. Last season, Stephens played in the American Association, splitting time between Amarillo and Gary.

Against the Rascals...

Florence has a record of 1-2 against River City in 2015. They dropped two of three in O'Fallon from June 9-11, winning the opener 11-4 but losing the next two games by scores of 8-1 and 8-4.

Five or more...

When the Freedom score five or more runs in a game they have a record of 15-3, compared to a record of 3-21 when scoring fewer than five runs.

Getting on the board...

When the Freedom are able to score first in a game this season they have a record of 13-6, compared to a 5-18 mark with the other team scores first.

Excellent Eberle...

Sam Eberle has been on fire lately for the Freedom, hitting safely in 11 of their last 12 games (18-47). In their most recent series against Rockford, Eberle went 5-13 with two runs scored, a double, two RBI and two walks.

Walk it out...

The Freedom have drawn 165 walks, the most in the league.

Run this way...

The Freedom's 78 stolen bases this season are the most in the Frontier League. However they have also been caught stealing 29 times, the most in the league as well.

Glovework...

The Freedom are tied with the Rockford Aviators for the best fielding percentage in the Frontier League at .982.

Transaction Wire...

The Freedom activated RHP Austin Delmotte from the Disabled List today. They placed RHP Cody Gray on the 14-Day DL.
