Rockford Aviators News Release
Traverse City, MICHIGAN - The Rockford Aviators made it 2 in a row Friday night, upending the Traverse City Beach Bums 4-1 in the first of a 3-game set in Traverse City. The Rockford boys were paced by Tony Rizzotti, who turned in a 7.2 inning gem, and Elijah Trail and Collin Shaw, who each went deep in the win.
Rizzotti was as brilliant as he has been all year, lighting the way for the Rockford squad by pitching well into the eighth inning while surrendering just 1 run and 4 hits. The righty struck out 6 on the way to outdueling Traverse City starter Anthony Montefusco and earning his 5th win of the year.
Elijah Trail made it consecutive games with a homerun, teeing off with a solo blast to make it a 2-0 lead for the Aves in the 2nd. The Aviators added another in the 4th on an RBI single by Michael Hur, and Collin Shaw smacked his first professional homerun in the eighth to inflate the lead to its final 3-run margin.
Patrick Dolan picked up his first save of the season by pitching a scoreless ninth, and Hur, Dusty Robinson, Brian Bistagne, and Devon Rodriguez all finished with multiple hits to help the Aviators earn win #26 on the year.
They face off once again with Traverse City tomorrow in a July 4th matchup slated for 7:05 ET/6:05 CT. Kyle Brueggemann gets the ball for the Aves as they look to win their eighth series of the year.
