With two outs in the ninth, runners were on the corners for Windy City, but Fox made a full-extension diving catch in deep left-centerfield, securing the 4-2 victory. Jacob Sanchez earned the win in seven innings, while Mike Barsotti was the bridge in the eighth, and Amalio Diaz notched the save. With the win the Slammers snapped the ThunderBolts' six-game winning streak.

For Starters.

Tommy Mendoza is looking for his first win since June 14 and his first win at home of the 2012 season. His last time out Mendoza went six and two thirds innings against the Gateway Grizzlies on July 16 and got a no-decision as he gave up two runs on nine hits. The Slammers won the game 4-2. The right-hander is making his second start against Windy City this season as he took the loss on June 24 in Crestwood as he gave up five runs on eight hits in six innings. Mendoza made his first start for the Slammers on June 27, 2011 and went on to post a 6-2 record during the regular season. He won both his starts in the playoffs while posting a 1.50 ERA. Mendoza was a 5th round draft pick of the Angels in 2005. He has a career ERA of 3.97 over six seasons in affiliated baseball.
