SEA DOGS SECURE SATURDAY NIGHT WIN Blaze Jordan came through with a two-run hmoer in the ninth inning to put Portland on top 3-2 over Reading on Saturday. Portland plated the first run of the game after an RBI single from Pablo Reyes to score Tyler McDonough in the top of the third inning. Reading countered in the bottom of the third with a solo home run from Max McDowell to even the score. Oliver Dunn recorded an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth to put Reading on top 2-1. Blaze Jordan blasted his first Double-A home run in the top of the ninth inning. The go-ahead two-run shot put Portland back on top, 3-2.

BLAZE BLAST FOR FIRST HIT Blaze Jordan blasted a go-ahead two-run home run in the top of the ninth to mark his first Double-A hit. Jordan has also drawn a pair of walks in the series.

GAMBRELL GOES SIX INNINGS Grant Gambrell pitched 6.0 innings yesterday for Portland. He allowed one run on three hits while walking two and striking out seven. In July, he has made two starts for the Sea Dogs and is 1-0 with a 1.93 ERA. In 14.0 innings, he has allowed three runs on 12 hits while walking three and striking out 14.

GOING FOR THE SERIES WIN After splitting the first two games, the Sea Dogs are going for their third series win in the second half. So far in the second half, Portland has won series against the Binghamton Rumble Ponies and New Hampshire Fisher Cats.

GUERRERO CONTINUES TO SHINE Portland's closer Luis Guerrero leads Double-A with 16 saves and has the second-most through all levels of Minor League Baseball. Zach Agnos has 18 with the Fresno Grizzlies.

TOP DOGS IN THE DIVISION The Sea Dogs remain in first place of the Northeast Division of the Eastern League with another series win over the Rumble Ponies. Portland is 11-3 in the second half and now 3.0 games ahead of the Hartford Yard Goats.

LOOKING AHEAD The Sea Dogs return to Hadlock Field on Tuesday, July 18th to face the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. Portland 13-5 against the Fisher Cats this season and 4-2 against them at Hadlock Field.

THIS DATE IN SEA DOGS HISTORY July 16, 2008 - John Otness picked up a Double-A career-high 4 RBI in Portland's 9-5 win at New Britain on Monday afternoon. Otness clocked a 2-run double during Portland's 5-run first inning and clubbed a 2-run homer in the fifth. Mickey Hall provided the game-winning RBI with a solo homer over the center-field wall in the fourth inning.

PITCHING PREVIEW RHP Wikelman Gonzalez will make his Double-A Debut today for Portland. In his last start with High-A Greenville Drive, he was given losing decision on July 5th vs the Rome Braves and tossed 5.0 innings allowing seven runs on eight hits while walking two and striking out eight. Gonzalez was promoted to Double-A Portland on July 14th. In 15 starts with High-A Greenville, he went 6-3 with 5.14 ERA and tossed 63.0 innings allowing 41 runs (36 earned) on 49 hits while walking 42 and striking out 105. Gonzalez held opposing hitters to a .210 average.
