Parker, Pen Lift Senators to Shutout Victory

The Harrisburg Senators shutout the Richmond Flying Squirrels 4-0 Sunday afternoon at FNB Field. Mitchell Parker tossed seven shutout innings allowing just three baserunners. Harrisburg scored a run in the third, two in the sixth and one more in the eighth to account for their four runs. Harrisburg took two out of three from Richmond and in doing so, won their first series since taking four of six from Bowie in an early June series.

The Big Play

In the top of the eighth inning with the Sens leading 3-0, Richmond put their first two men on base against Malvin Pena. Pena then struck out Hayden Cantrelle leading to the big play. Pena induced Simon Whiteman to hit into a 5-4-3 inning ending double play to preserve the 3-0 lead.

On Capitol Hill

Mitchell Parker was outstanding on Sunday afternoon. He went seven innings and allowed just one hit and two walks while striking out eight. He earned the win moving to 6-4 this season... Malvin Pena pitched a scoreless eighth inning and Tyler Schoff a scoreless ninth.

With the Gavel

Frankie Tostado and Trey Lipscomb both had two hits including a double and drove in a run... Tostado also scored twice... The Senators had eight hits in the game.

Filibusters

Harrisburg turned two double plays giving them 69 this season... The Sens had three hits with runners in scoring position... The shutout was the Senators sixth this season... Time of the game was 2:07... the attendance 2,956.

On the Docket

The Senators and Bowie Baysox play game one of their six-game series Tuesday at 6:35 p.m. The game can be heard on CBS Sports Radio Stations 96.5 FM, 95.3 FM, and 1400 AM beginning at 6:20 p.m.
