Josue Montanez Joins Kernels from Extended Spring Training

Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Minnesota Twins announce that LHP Josue Montanez will join the Kernels from Extended Spring Training in Fort Myers, FL. Brad Steil, Director of Minor League Operations for the Twins, announced the move.

The Twins selected Montanez in the 15th round of the 2011 First Year Player Draft out of Miami Dade Community College South. He spent 2012 with the GCL Twins where he posted a 2-0 record and 0.36 ERA in eight games (four starts), allowing 13 hits and five runs (one earned) over 25 IP with eight walks and 30 strikeouts.

Montanez is active and available for the Kernels 2:05 pm game on Sunday afternoon with the Beloit Snappers. With today's transaction, the Kernels roster is at the MWL maximum of 25, with one player currently on the disabled list.

The Kernels wrap up a four game home stand on Sunday afternoon against the Beloit Snappers at 2:05 pm. Gates open at 1:00 pm.
