Indy Fuel News Release
INDIANAPOLIS - The Indy Fuel, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Chicago Blackhawks and the AHL's Rockford IceHogs, announced Friday that the AHL's Worcester Sharks reassigned rookie defenseman Nick Jones to the Fuel and recently acquired forward Jonathan Parker was placed on the 21-day injured reserve list with an upper body injury.
A 6'2", 200 lb. right-handed shooting native of Cranberry, Pennsylvania, Jones, 24, returns to the Fuel following a lengthy stint with the Sharks during which the first-year blue-liner registered two assists, two penalty minutes and a +5 rating in 13 appearances. Jones logged two additional AHL appearances with Worcester during the 2013-14 season. In 15 games played for the Fuel this year, Jones has one goal and six points to his credit, along with two penalty minutes. Prior to his professional career, Jones logged 156 appearances for Mercyhurst College in the NCAA ranks. In four seasons with the Lakers from 2011 to 2014, Jones scored 32 goals and 93 total points.
Since his acquisition from the Colorado Eagles on January 8th, Parker has appeared in two games for the Fuel, registering two penalty minutes and a -2 rating. The Fuel also announced Friday that goaltender Jason Torf was added as an emergency backup for Friday's game.
