Florence Y'alls News Release
FLORENCE, Ky. - After dropping the first game of a three-game set with the Schaumburg Boomers, the Florence Y'alls emerged the victorious Wednesday night, defeating the Boomers 8-4.
Casey Grimm got the ball for Florence. For Grimm, it was a rough beginning to his outing, giving up four runs in the first inning thanks on five Boomers knocks. Grimm settled down afterwards, going four innings and not allowing any other Schaumberg players to cross the plate.
The Florence offense instantly responded in the bottom half of the first inning. Harrison DiNicola led things off with a base knock and later scored on a wild pitch out of the hand of Schaumberg starter Jesse Remington.
Florence chipped away again in the third. Jordan Brower collected RBI's 33 and 34 on a double, plating Taylor Bryant and Trevor Craport, who both reached on walks. Heading into the fourth, Schaumberg led 4-3.
Florence turned the tide in the fourth. Connor Crane rocketed a double to center, scoring shortstop Andres Rios and giving the Y'alls a 5-4 advantage. Then, with two outs and a new hurler on the hill, Axel Johnson blasted a long ball over the right field wall making it 8-4. Florence did not look back.
The bullpen was fantastic for the Y'alls. Alex Wagner, Karl Cragie and Joe Dougherty combined for five innings of scoreless baseball, with Wagner getting his fourth victory of the season. The loss went to Jesse Remington.
These two teams will meet up in a rubber match tomorrow night at 6:34 ET. The Y'alls will send Frank Valentino to the mound to take on righty Kyle Arjona.
