
Johnson Blasts Ducks out of Water in 4-3 Sens Win

The Harrisburg Senators knocked off the Akron RubberDucks 4-3 Sunday afternoon at Canal Park. Daniel Johnson hit the go-ahead home run in the top of the ninth to break a 3-3 tie and send the Senators to the series win.
Alexis Pantoja drove in the game's first run in the second with a two-out RBI single off Senators starting pitcher Cesar Vargas.
Vargas worked five innings and limited the 'Ducks to just the one run on two hits while striking out seven and walking three.
Akron starting pitcher Kyle Dowdy tossed five shutout innings before the Senators struck for three in the sixth to take the lead. The team loaded the bases on a double by Austin Davidson, followed by back-to-back walks by Taylor Gushue and Drew Ward. The next batter, Zach Collier, hit a groundball to the second baseman, Mark Mathias, whose throw to first went over the head of first baseman Nellie Rodriguez, which allowed a pair of runs to score and Collier to reach first. Osvaldo Abreu expanded the lead with a line drive single to left to drive in Ward and put the Senators on top 3-1.
The 'Ducks tied the game with a pair of runs in the seventh on run-scoring singles by Andrew Calica and Tyler Krieger.
With the game tied 3-3 in the top of the ninth, Daniel Johnson launched a 1-0 pitch from reliever Rob Kaminsky over the centerfield wall to put the Senators ahead 4-3.
James Bourque pitched a scoreless bottom of the ninth to finish the win and notch his first save at Double-A.
Jordan Mills (2-1) worked one and a third perfect innings to earn the win, while Kaminsky (1-1) took the loss.
Johnson, Gamache and Davidson all finished with a pair of hits to lead the Senators offense.
The Senators return to Harrisburg for their final home series of the season which starts Monday night against the Erie SeaWolves. Jaron Long starts the series opener for the Senators opposite Erie starter Christian Binford. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at FNB Field.
