Akron RubberDucks News Release
(AKRON, OHIO) June 27, 2014 - The Akron RubberDucks announced today on ESPN Cleveland's "The Really Big Show," a new addition to the popular "Extreme Foods" menu.
The new entree is the "Johnny Footlong," an 8-ounce Five Star hot dog topped with Texas Jack chili, shredded pepper jack cheese and Sriracha sauce.
It's no coincidence that the new dressed-up dog mimics the name of Johnny "Football" Manziel, one of the Cleveland Browns' latest additions.
"We're always looking to incorporate the sporting trends of northeastern Ohio into our menu," Director of Food and Beverage Brian Manning said. "This is a great way to mix the excitement in the region with a fun, delicious and quality product."
The "Extreme Menu" item will sell for $8 and is available at The Dog Pound concession stand located in left field behind the new Fowl Territory seating.
"Johnny Football mania is in full swing at Canal Park, and we are excited to have a food & beverage offering dedicated to the new Browns Quarterback. It's an exciting time for the Akron and Cleveland area," RubberDucks' General Manager Jim Pfander said.
The "Johnny Footlong" joins other "Extreme Menu" entrees such as "The Pineapple TeriyAKRON Bowl," a half pineapple, hollowed out and stuffed with a stir fry mix and finished with a drizzle of teriyaki sauce, and the"Ugly Duckling," 16 ounces of stout beer poured over three scoops of vanilla ice cream, topped with chocolate syrup and sprinkles.
The "Johnny Footlong" hits stands on June 27 before the 7:05 game at Canal Park.
The Akron RubberDucks are the Double-A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians. The 2014 season is its 18th since moving to Canal Park and its first since becoming the RubberDucks.
