In the opener starter Zach Davies continued his recent dominance and he gave way to Steve Hensley who continued his roll out of the pen in game two as the Baysox swept a doubleheader from Richmond on Friday night. Bowie took the opener 5-1 and the nightcap 6-3.

With the wins the Baysox now move within three games of playoff position in back of Akron and 3.5 games behind Richmond for first in the Western Division.

Davies delivered another gem for Bowie. In the opener he worked six shutout innings, allowing two hits while striking out nine batters. It was the third consecutive scoreless start posted by Davies (4-4) who has worked 19 consecutive scoreless innings. He has allowed only five hits in those 19 innings.

Bowie gave Davies the lead with a three-run second inning. The big hit came from SS Garabez Rosa who singled sharply off the third base bag driving home two runs in the process. Bowie registered five hits in the rally.

Late in the game Richmond rallied down five runs in the seventh to bring on Baysox closer Oliver Drake. Up 5-1 with the bases loaded and one out, Drake got a strikeout and a groundout to end the game. For Drake it was his league leading 18th save and his 12th consecutive scoreless appearance.

In game two the Baysox got the big inning in the second inning again. Bowie plated four two-out runs in a five-run rally that lifted them to a 5-0 lead. 3B Niuman Romero finished the inning with a two-RBI single to plate the final two runs.

Richmond rallied to get within 5-3 in the third inning and the Flying Squirrels had runners at first and second with no outs but RHP Steve Hensley came to the rescue. He stranded the inherited runners and then worked three more hitless innings. Hensley (2-0) fanned six batters in four scoreless innings. Marcel Prado worked a 1-2-3 seventh inning for his third save of the year.
