CURVE, Pa. - Altoona beat Binghamton's Hansel Robles for a third time in 2014 with a, 3-1, win on Thursday night in front of 3,449 fans at Peoples Natural Gas Field. Joely Rodriguez (4-6) was stellar on Thursday, matching a career high with seven innings pitched and allowing just one run on one hit in his fourth win of the season.

The Curve went ahead in the first inning to take the game's first run. Drew Maggi, who'd been hit by a pitch to start the game, came around three batters later when Elias Diaz drove him home on a single. After one, the Curve had the lead, 1-0.

Rodriguez allowed his only run and only hit in the second inning when Darrell Ceciliani singled on the infield to bring home Dustin Lawley with two outs. From there, Rodriguez went on to allow only two baserunners the rest of the way. He retired the last 11 he faced after walking Lawley to start the fourth and went on to strike out four while walking two. It was the fourth time in his career that the lefty out of Santo Domingo finished seven innings and the second time this season he accomplished the feat.

Altoona's offense put him back in front in the fifth when they scored the final two runs of the game off Robles (5-5). Justin Howard doubled with one out and Diaz walked to start the rally. Matt Curry struck out swinging but Keon Broxton delivered a two-out RBI to plate Howard and put the Curve back in front. After Robles was removed from the game in favor of Ryan Fraser, Willy Garcia singled on the infield to score Diaz from third for the two-run advantage.

Emmanuel de Leon pitched a scoreless eighth and Kenn Kasparek a clean ninth for his second save in as many appearances to seal the win. Garcia had the game's only multi-hit effort, his 13th total multi-hit game of the season, in the win.

The Curve (29-49) and B-Mets (45-33) continue the series at 7 p.m. Friday night at Peoples Natural Gas Field with gates at 5 p.m. The first 1,500 fans on Friday will receive a Jameson Taillon Tuxedo T-Shirt thanks to WTAJ-TV and it is also a Silver Steamers Club Game presented by Homewood at Martinsburg. Steve Summerhill will take to the stage on the Rocky Gap Casino Resort Entertainment Deck for a pregame concert from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. After the game, kids can run the bases.

On the hill for the Curve on Friday will be RHP Adrian Sampson (5-4, 2.39), who searches for his team-leading sixth win of the season. He'll be opposed by RHP Tyler Pill (5-5, 4.11) on Friday.

Airtime on ESPN Radio 1430, WVAM and the Curve Radio Network is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. For tickets and more information, visit AltoonaCurve.com, call 877.99.CURVE or stop by the ticket windows at Peoples Natural Gas Field.
