Binghamton Rumble Ponies News Release

BINGHAMTON, NY - David Tyree, Super Bowl Champion wide receiver for the New York Giants in 2008, will appear at the Binghamton Mets game on July 5 against the Erie SeaWolves. The first 1,000 fans will receive a poster of Tyree, with the first 300 autographed by the Super Bowl LXII hero. Tyree will be available for a meet-and-greet with fans from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM, with a brief break to allow him to throw out the ceremonial first pitch before the B-Mets 6:05 PM game.

Tyree solidified his place in Giants lore on one play in Super Bowl LXII on February 3, 2008. With the Giants trailing by four with less than 90 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, Tyree pulled down a 32-yard pass from Eli Manning, famously pinning the ball against his helmet to keep New York's hopes alive. The Giants would go on to score a touchdown on the drive, pushing them to a 17-14 upset victory over the New England Patriots.

Tyree, a native of Livingston, NJ, played college football at Syracuse University before being drafted by the Giants in 2003. His catch, nicknamed "The Helmet Catch," was ranked as the "The Play of the Decade (2000s)" by NFL Films. It also won a 2008 ESPY for "Best Play."

The B-Mets (45-32) open a four-game set on the road against the Altoona Curve on Thursday at 6:35 PM. RHP Tyler Pill takes the mound for Binghamton opposite LHP Joely Rodriguez. The Horizons Federal Credit Union Pregame Show, starting at 6:20 PM, can be heard on News Radio 1290 WNBF and on the Binghamton Mets Baseball Network via the TuneIn App.

Catch the future stars of the New York Mets all season long at NYSEG Stadium. Visit BMETS.COM, stop by the box office or call 723-METS for tickets.
