JAMESTOWN, NY - The State College Spikes snapped a 19-inning scoreless streak, but the Jamestown Jammers rallied in the bottom of the sixth to take a seven-inning win over the Spikes, 2-1, in game one of a doubleheader on Friday night at Russell Diethrick Park.

Justin Bencsko stole two bases for State College (1-6) and served as the spark for the Spikes' lone run. Bencsko walked in the second inning, swiping his first bag immediately after. Kyle Singer then drove in the Villanova alum with a single.

Jamestown (5-2) was able to plate a pair of runs four innings afterwards, however, as Rand Smith led off the inning by drawing a walk from Spikes reliever Bryce Weidman (0-1). After a single by Jobduan Morales sent Smith to third base, Marquise Cooper pinch-ran for Morales and stole second. Smith then scored on a groundout by Ryan McIntyre, with Cooper coming home on a fielder's choice in which he beat the throw to the plate.

State College starter Ryan Hafner went four scoreless innings for the second start in a row, but did not factor in the decision. Hafner allowed four hits and struck out four batters in the game.

Weidman took the loss, allowing both sixth-inning runs on a total of two hits and a walk. The right-hander also notched a strikeout.

Charles Wier (2-0) earned the win for Jamestown with two scoreless innings of relief, yielding a hit and walking two Spikes while striking out four. Alfredo Buret (2) picked up the save after blanking State College in the seventh inning.
