Bats Come Alive in Win Over Doubledays

Auburn, New York - Mahoning Valley hit three home runs and shut out Auburn through

eight innings in a 9-3 win over the Doubledays.

Jake Lowery hit his first two home runs of the season and Aaron Siliga added his second

as part of a 12-hit attack against Auburn's pitchers. Lowery went 3-for-5 with a double and

Siliga finished with a 3-for-4 night.

The Scrappers got another strong start from left-hander Kirk Wetmore, who went five

innings and held the Doubledays to two hits. He struck out eight batters and picked up the win to

improve to 2-0. Enosil Tejada pitched three innings of shutout relief before the Doubledays

scored three runs off Drew Rucinski in the ninth inning.

Mahoning Valley's nine-run night set a new season high. The Scrappers came within one

hit of tying their season high for hits in a game.

The final game of the three-game series is Saturday night at 7:05 pm.
