BURLINGTON, VT - The Connecticut Tigers committed six costly errors in a 4-2 loss to the Vermont Lake Monsters on Friday night at Centennial Field in Burlington, Vermont.
Vermont took an early 2-0 lead on a Jordan Tripp two-run homerun in the first inning, but the Tigers came back in the fourth to tie it up at two on a Les Smith two out two-run double.
Two seventh inning errors helped the Lake Monsters take a 3-2 lead and they would tack on an insurance run in the eighth on a Diomedes Lopez solo shot to left that hit off the foul pole.
Ryan Woolley suffered the loss out of the bullpen for the Tigers despite only giving up one hit in 2.1 innings pitched. Drew Bailey picked up the win for Vermont, while Tanner Peters got his first save of the year. Bailey and Peters combined to hold the Tigers hitless over the final 4.1 innings.
The Tigers and Lake Monsters will play the final game of the three-game series tomorrow night at Centennial Field. First pitch is set for 6:05 PM.
