Charlotte Checkers News Release

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Charlotte Checkers announced today that Dusty Jamieson has agreed to terms for the upcoming season. Jamieson has led the Checkers in goals each of the previous four seasons and recorded a career-best 61 points last season (30g, 31a).

"Having Dusty back adds a great deal of consistency to our lineup," said head coach and general manager Derek Wilkinson. "He's a good character guy on and off the ice and a fan favorite. With Dusty on the ice we've got a legitimate scoring threat at all times."

After a career-best performance in points last season, Jamieson moved into the top five on the Checkers career leaders list in points scored and goals scored while moving to sixth in assists. Having played 227 games with the Checkers, Jamieson is ranked third in goals scored (112), fifth in points scored (205) and sixth in assists (93).

"I love Charlotte and I'm really excited to come back to the Checkers," said Jamieson. "The team that coach is putting together looks like it has a great chance to win a championship and I'm thrilled to be a part of it. It's great playing in a first-class arena and I'm really excited about the brand new practice and workout facility."

Jamieson, 25, began his professional career with the Checkers in 2002 and tied for the team lead in goals that season with 27. Last season the left wing from Forest, Ontario tied for the league lead with eight shorthanded points and tied for second in the ECHL with five shorthanded goals.

Jamieson, 6-foot-3-inches, 195 pounds, has enjoyed two stints in the American Hockey League, one with the Hartford Wolf Pack and one with the Binghamton Senators. He was also a fifth-round selection of the Montreal Canadiens in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft (136th pick overall) and played six seasons in the Ontario Hockey League before coming to the Checkers.
