Long Beach Ice Dogs News Release

LONG BEACH, Calif. - The Long Beach Ice Dogs announced today that they have acquired and signed forward Brandon Schwartz in exchange for cash considerations. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The 5' 11", 195-pound native of St. Cloud, Minnesota turned pro last season after four stellar seasons at Michigan Tech. Brandon finished his four years at Michigan Tech with 34 goals, 48 assists, 82 points, and 109 penalty minutes in 143 games while serving as captain his senior year. Prior to playing college hockey, Schwartz won a Championship with Sioux-City in the USHL in 2001-2002 where he led the league in playoff scoring after recording 30 goals in his final year at Sioux-City in just 57 games.

Immediately following his senior season at Michigan Tech, Brandon played 5 games with the Binghamton Senators (AHL) and 12 games with the South Carolina Stingrays (ECHL) where he recorded 2 points.

"Brandon is a very smart hockey player," said Managing Partner/Owner Steven Bash. "It's not too often that you expect a first year professional player to bring leadership to the table. Brandon is one of those players. We are expecting Brandon to be a leader on and off the ice for the Long Beach Community."

"Brandon has great leadership skills and is well schooled as an excellent positional player," said Head Coach and General Manager Rick Adduono. "Schwartz has a tremendous work ethic that will not go unnoticed by his teammates. He will be a huge part of our youth movement and will be able to help out the veteran players as well."

"I have heard a lot of great things about Coach Adduono and the city of Long Beach," said Schwartz. "I have been working awfully hard this off season and look forward to having a productive season and becoming part of a great hockey team."

Opening night is Friday, October 20th, versus the Idaho Steelheads at 7:30 PM. Season tickets for the 2006-07 season are on sale now, and can be secured by depositing just $100 per seat. Call (562) ICE-DOGS for visit www.icedogs.com for more information.
