Fresno Falcons News Release
Fresno, Calif. - The Fresno Falcons announced today that Assistant Coach Ryan Mougenel and Athletic Trainer Brad Jellis will both be returning to the team for the 2006-07 season.
Mougenel enters his second season as the team's assistant coach. Prior to joining the Falcons' staff last season, he played professionally for six seasons, including a total of 115 games in the International and American Hockey League. Mougenel retired from playing following the 2002-03 season after winning the Kelly Cup Championship with the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies, where Falcons Head Coach and General Manager Matt Thomas served as assistant coach. In the off-season, the Toronto-area native runs a series of hockey schools in the United States and Canada, and works individually with NHL players such as Wayne Primeau, Keith Primeau, and Boyd Devereaux to help hone their skill development.
Jellis also enters his second season with the club in 2006-07. Last year in his first season with the team, Jellis was selected as a trainer for the ECHL All-Star Game which was held at the Save Mart Center. Jellis, who hails from Creston, British Columbia, earned a bachelor of science degree in athletic training from the University of North Dakota, and graduated with a master's degree in sports science from Bemidji State University.
"The hockey operations staff was a huge part of our success last season," Falcons Head Coach and General Manager Matt Thomas said. "Ryan did a great job in helping to develop our players, and Brad was fantastic in keeping our players healthy and on top of their game throughout the season."
The Falcons open defense of their Pacific Division title on Friday, October 20, when they host the Las Vegas Wranglers at the Save Mart Center.
