Jamie Arniel Returns from Boston

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins, now in their 19th season in the American Hockey League, today announced that the National Hockey League's Boston Bruins have assigned forward Jamie Arniel to Providence.

Arniel, 20, was recalled to Boston on November 9 and was a healthy scratch in the Bruins' game against the Pittsburgh Penguins the following night. The call-up was the first of Arniel's professional career.

The second-year pro has appeared in all 12 of Providence's games this season, where he currently ranks tied for third in scoring with nine points, including six goals and three assists. The forward's goals total is good for second on the club behind Jordan Knackstedt's seven. He also leads the P-Bruins with 44 shots on net. Arniel has three multiple-point games to his credit this season and returns to the AHL riding a three-game point-streak, during which time he has recorded three goals and two assists in helping Providence to three victories.

The Kingston, Ontario, native completed a very successful rookie season for Providence in 2009-10, winning the team's Rookie of the Year award after leading all first-year P-Bruins with 28 points and 16 assists. Arniel's 67 games were highlighted by a six-game goal-scoring streak in November, trying a franchise record, seven multi-point games and the AHL's Rookie of the Month and Providence's Player of the Month awards for November.

Arniel was selected by Boston 97th overall in the fourth round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

The P-Bruins' roster is now comprised of 24 players, including 15 forwards, seven defensemen and two goaltenders.

Providence, riding a three-game winning streak, gets back into action with three contests this weekend, beginning Friday at the Dunkin' Donuts Center for Ear Warmer Night against the Abbotsford Heat at 7:05 p.m.The ear warmers are free to the first 2,000 fans. The P-Bruins are on the road in New Hampshire on Saturday, taking on the Manchester Monarchs at 7 p.m. The weekend wraps up on Sunday as Providence hosts Abbotsford at 4:05 p.m. for Thundersticks Night with thundersticks free to the first 1,000 kids age 12 and under.
