
James, Parache Homer As \'Hawks Win For Capacity Crowd

LOVES PARK, Ill. - Jason James and Luis Parache each hit home runs on Wednesday as the Rockford RiverHawks beat the Southern Illinois Miners, 9-3, at Road Ranger Stadium.
James hit a two-run homer to the beer garden in right field in the first inning and Rockford led the rest of the night. Parache led off the second with a homer to right, in front of a standing-room-only crowd of 4,219, the largest of the year.
Rockford starter Alex Szymanski held the Miners to two runs - on homers by Nate Hall and Will Block - and five hits over eight innings for the win. Szymanski (5-3) snapped a three-start winless streak with a 131-pitch outing. He struck out six and walked four.
Southern Illinois starter David Harden gave up eight runs, six earned, on nine hits over six innings and took the loss. Harden (5-4) has lost three straight starts.
The rubber match of the three-game series is at 7:05 p.m. Thirsty Thursday. Miller Lite and RBI's Bar & Grill sponsors Dollar Beer Night.
