
Wild Things Take Game Two Against Otters

Washington, PA - Despite an hour and twenty-six minute rain delay, the Washington Wild Things, presented by Washington Financial, took game two of their series against the Evansville Otters, 7-2.
The Wild Things first got on the board in the bottom of the third inning, when second baseman Scott Lawson hit a double and drove in center fielder Chris Sidick. Sidick went 1-for-4 on the night with two runs and two RBIs.
After the rain delay in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Wild Things scored two quick runs with two outs on the board. A triple by Sidick drove in third baseman Ryan Ditthardt and shortstop Kevyn Feiner.
The Wild Things added to their lead in the bottom of the fifth inning when designated hitter Eric Stephens hit a line drive home run over the right field fence to drive in left fielder Estee Harris.
Washington starter Justin Edwards (4-2) pitched 7 1/3 innings, allowing one run (unearned) on one hit. Edwards walked four batters and struck out eight. Steven Grife finished the game for the Wild Things, pitching one inning. Grife allowed one run (earned) on two hits, while walking one.
Evansville starting pitcher Scott Kelley (5-5) lasted five innings, allowing seven runs (six earned) on eight hits. Kelley walked four batters and struck out seven. Reliever Ryne Purcell pitched one inning, allowing no hits or runs with one strikeout.
The Wild Things finish their series with the Evansville Otters tomorrow night at 6:35 p.m. Pre-game coverage begins at 6:25 on WJPA 95.3 FM. Thursday is Dollar Thirst Day, with all beer and soft drinks available for just $1. It is also Smurf Night, so wear your blue; the players will be wearing Smurf-themed jerseys that will be available for auction. There will also be a t-shirt giveaway, presented by Mylan, and center fielder Chris Sidick will be honored.
