BAKERSFIELD - Jeremy Wise tallied a game-high 24 points and six assists and the
Bakersfield Jam (20-16) used a strong third quarter to defeat the Reno Bighorns (17-19) on the road by a
final score of 116-98.
With 5:50 left in the second quarter, Bakersfield trailed 52-41 but finished the quarter on a 17-3 run to
take a 58-55 lead at halftime and never trailed for the rest of the game. The momentum to end the
second quarter carried out to the third as they put up 39 points and shot 60.9% from the field led by
Derrick Byars who scored 10 points in the third period alone. Bakersfield led by as many as 25 points in
the second half and held Blake Ahearn, the NBA D-League's leading scorer, to only 16 points on the
night.
Renaldo Major scored 22 points while Derrick Byars added 18 points on the night. Juan Pattillo
recorded a double-double off the bench with 13 points and a game-high 15 rebounds. Also scoring in
double figures for Bakersfield was Los Angeles Clippers assignee Travis Leslie with 12 off the bench.
Leading the Bighorns in scoring was Andre Emmet with 19 and had eight rebounds on the night. Zach
Graham finished with 18 points.
Bakersfield will look for a sweep tomorrow night as they battle Reno again at 7:00 p.m. PT at the Reno
Events Center.
