New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release

MANCHESTER, N.H. - On a night when Gabe Jacobo set a new individual team record, he helped the Fisher Cats (59-76) set a new Northeast Delta Dental Stadium record with an 8-1 win over the Portland Sea Dogs on Tuesday night. Jacobo had four more hits to extend his personal hitting streak to eight at-bats while the Fisher Cats won their ninth straight home game, their longest run since moving from Gill Stadium to the banks of the Merrimack River for the 2005 season.

Jacobo's first two hits of the night didn't factor into the game's early scoring as the Fisher Cats picked up a 1-0 lead on a groundout in the first inning. Jacobo added singles in the second and fifth, but was stranded each time.

In the sixth, Portland (65-69) scratched out its only run against Fernando Hernandez (W; 5-7) on a bases loaded sac fly. In the bottom of the inning, Ryan Schimpf and Brian Van Kirk combined to drive in three runs to put the Fisher Cats on top 4-1. Jacobo added another single in the inning - his seventh hit in seven at-bats - but was stranded once again.

In the seventh, the Fisher Cats broke the game open, and Jacobo played a big part in the rally. The inning began with Brad McElroy picking up the first of his two hits on the night. A few pitches later, Ryan Goins smacked his seventh homer of the year to center field to push the lead to 6-1. Two outs later, with runners at first and second, Jacobo laced a double to right-center to pad the lead at 8-1.

Jacobo finished the game 4-for-4 - his second straight four-hit game - and has picked up a base hit in eight consecutive at-bats. He broke the previous record of seven in a row by Ryan Patterson in May, 2008.

The Fisher Cats have now won nine in a row at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium, the longest streak in the new ballpark. The team record for consecutive home wins is ten, recorded in June of 2004 at Gill Stadium.

The series continues on Tuesday night at 6:35 PM. The first 1,000 fans will receive an Ollie the Bat Dog T-Shirt courtesy of Dead River Company. To purchase tickets, visit www.nhfishercats.com, stop by the Fisher Cats ticket office, or call 603-641-2005.

RHP Ryan Tepera (7-2, 4.50) is expected to start for New Hampshire against new Sea Dogs Allen Webster, who will make his first start in the Red Sox organization. Radio coverage begins at 6:15 PM with Tom Gauthier and Bob Lipman on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network and www.nhfishercats.com.
