Elmira Jackals News Release

The Elmira Jackals went 0 for 13 on the power play against the Fort Wayne Komets en route to taking a 2-1 loss at the Coach USA Center before 3,479 disappointed fans.

Elmira never got the special teams engine started, and fell behind 2-0 on goals by Ryan Severson and Michel Masse before getting one to pull close in the third period. Rob Frost's shot deflected off of two Jackals on the way to the net, last touching Thomas Clayton before eluding goaltender Scott Rideout. Rideout made his first professional start against Elmira, and played well in stopping 32 of 33 shots for the win. Corey Neilson also picked up an assist on Clayton's goal at 10:37 of the third period.

Jeremy Symington stopped 29 of 31 Komet shots, making several acrobatic saves along the way, but it was not enough as Elmira hit two posts and had a late goal disallowed, called back because the puck was said to be kicked in. The Jackals were also unable to utilize any of their 13 power plays in the contest, and ended up taking the collar in that department.

The Jackals will also be without the services of Brad Wingfield for at least one game, as the winger was handed an instigator penalty at the 20:00 mark of the third period. When issued in the last five minutes of a game, it carries an automatic one game suspension. Wingfield will sit out tomorrow night's game against Port Huron, as the Beacons come to town for a 7 pm game at the Coach USA Center.

Tickets are still available for the game through the Coach USA Center Box Office, all TicketMaster locations, online at www.TicketMaster.com, or charge by phone at (607) 722-3711.
