Jackals Move Into Third Place With 4-2 Win

Dayton, OH- The Elmira Jackals stormed back into the playoff picture last night with a 4-2 win over the Dayton Bombers at the Nutter Center in Dayton, OH. Three first period goals and a 40 save performance from Michael Teslak highlighted the contest.

The Jackals opened the scoring at the 8:08 mark of the first period on a goal from Benoit Doucet, his 11th of the year. The Jackals then found themselves up 2-0 on a Chris Korchinski penalty shot goal. Pierre-Luc Faubert extended the lead to 3-0 at the 13:19 mark when he scored a shorthanded breakaway goal. Dayton netted their lone goal of the first at the 15:15 mark when Dominic D' Amour scored his seventh of the year.

The 3-1 score held solid until the 12:27 mark of the second when Dayton pulled within one on a goal from Justin Bowers. The Jackals finished the second period strong with Pierre-Luc Faubert's second of the game to bring the game to 4-2.

The Jackals had a busy defensive third period as they killed off two Dayton power plays including one five on three. Michael Teslak had an impressive period as he turned aside all 13 shots fired his way, he ended the night as the Star of the Game with 40 saves.

With the win the Jackals improve to 22-18-1-3 while the Dayton falls to 21-18-2-3 . The Jackals move back into a playoff spot in the North Division as they are now tied with the Johnstown Chiefs for third place.
