Elmira, NY- Mike Sgroi and Colton Yellow Horn each netted two goals while Paul McIlveen and Shawn Snider each had three point nights in Elmira's 5-2 win over the Dayton Bombers tonight at First Arena. The Jackals improve to 4-1-0 against Dayton on the season and will finish off the triple header this Friday and Saturday at First Arena at 7:35 p.m.

The Elmira Jackals took the early 1-0 lead at the 3:22 mark. Mike Sgroi took a Shawn Snider pass out of his own zone and went the length of the ice on a break away to beat Dayton goalie Paul Drew five hole. Sgroi netted his second of the game, 11th of the season, 1:22 later. Paul McIlveen and Steve Yetman assisted on the play. The Jackals led 2-0 and held a 10-6 shot advantage after the first period of play.

The Jackals continued to turn the tires in the second period with three goals. The first came at the 4:05 mark when Shawn Snider and Kaleb Betts set up Colton Yellow Horn for his first goal as a Jackal. The Jackals extended the lead to 4-0 on a delayed penalty when Pierre-Luc Faubert and Mike Sgroi set up Paul McIlveen for his 16th goal of the season, a rebound shot the was sent top shelf. The Jackals then nailed down the second period with there fifth goal of the evening, Yellow Horns second of the night. On the power play Paul McIlveen and Shawn Snider worked the puck low in the offensive zone where Yellow Horn took a pass and walked out of the blocker side corner, and slid the puck past Dayton goalie Paul Drew. Elmira finished the second period with a 27-14 shot advantage.

The Jackals entered the third period with a five goal advantage only to see the Bombers capitalize on two power plays to bring the score back within three. Dayton tallied first at the 7:19 mark, Jarret Lukins 21st of the season. The Bombers finished the scoring at the 9:28 mark with a Nino Musitelli power play goal. The Bombers pressured late in the third but Elmira goalie Michael Teslak would stand tall turning aside 24 of 26 shots on the evening.

With the win tonight the Jackals improve to 31-22-1-4 while the Bombers fall to 27-28-2-3.

NEXT UP: The Jackals return to First Arena for match ups on Friday and Saturday to complete the triple header with Dayton. On Friday night come dressed in your country gear and receive a free cowbell, courtesy of WETM. On Saturday night the first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a free Weiss Construction hockey puck. Both nights the opening face off is set for 7:35 p.m. The Jackals close out their four games and five nights schedule with a Sunday afternoon trip to Johnstown to take on the Chiefs at 2:35 p.m.
