Reading Acquires Forward Erik Felde

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that the team has acquired forward Erik Felde ["FELL dee"] from the Alaska Aces of the ECHL in exchange for the rights to defenseman Tyson Marsh. In separate transactions, the Royals loaned forwards Brock Hooton and Mac Faulkner and defenseman Steve Ward to the Norfolk Admirals of the AHL. In a separate transaction previously complete, defenseman Dinos Stamoulis was returned to the Royals from the Hershey Bears of the AHL.

Felde (5'11/185) (21), who hails from Anchorage, Alaska, scored five goals, assisted on two others (seven points) and picked up sixteen penalty minutes in twenty-nine games with the Alaska Aces. Prior to turning pro, Felde played two seasons of major junior in the Western Hockey League, where he scored forty-nine goals, assisted on sixty others (109 points), and picked up seventy-six penalty minutes in 144 total games with the Tri-City Americans and Swift Current Broncos. Marsh, who registered three assists in eight games with Reading, was loaned on November 11, 2008, to the Chicago Wolves of the AHL, where he has scored a goal, assisted on four others and picked up twenty-seven penalty minutes in twenty-four games.

This marks the third AHL call up this season for Hooton, who leads the Royals with forty-seven points (18g-29a) in forty-nine games with Reading. For Faulkner, this marks his first call up to the AHL this season. Faulkner has scored seventeen goals and assisted on twenty others (thirty-seven points) in fifty-eight games with Reading. For Ward, this marks his third AHL call-up this year. Ward has scored eight goals and assisted on sixteen others (twenty-four points) in thirty-eight games with Reading this year.

The Royals return to action on Friday night (March 6 @ 7:05 pm) when the Cincinnati Cyclones visit the Sovereign Center.
