Dayton Bombers News Release

Elmira, NY - The Dayton Bombers mounted a third period comeback, but were unable to take down the Elmira Jackals, falling 5-2 on the road on Wednesday night.

The Jackals took control of the game early as Mike Sgroi scored twice in the first five minutes of the contest. The Bombers did, however, shut down both Elmira power play opportunities in the frame. The Jackals held a slight advantage with 10 shots on goal in the first, compared to the Bombers' six shots.

Elmira continued their offensive pressure in the second period as Colton Yellow Horn tallied his first goal of the year at the 4:05 mark. The Jackals would put the puck past Bombers goaltender Paul Drew twice more in the frame, including again by Yellow Horn on their fourth power play opportunity. After two periods, the Jackals held a 5-0 lead and were outshooting the Bombers 27-14.

The third period, like most games this season, belonged to the Bombers. Jarret Lukin put Dayton on the board at 7:19 on the power play, assisted by Nino Musitelli and Christian Gaudet. Just over two minutes later, Musitelli cut the Elmira lead to 5-2, again on the power play. Gaudet and Brock Wilson earned helpers on the play. However, the lead proved too great to overcome for the Bombers, depsite outshooting the Jackals 12-5 in the third.

Drew finished the night 27 of 32 for the loss, while Elmira's Michael Teslak went 24 of 26. The Bombers were 2 of 6 on the power play and 5 of 6 on the penalty kill.

The Bombers and Jackals face off again on Friday night at 7:35, then again on Saturday at 7:35. Both games can be viewed online via the B2 Networks.

Action returns to the E.J. Nutter Center on Friday, March 13 and Saturday, March 14 when Elmira comes to town for a pair of 7:30 p.m. matchups.
