IN JUST A FEW HOURS...
The Elmira Jackals battle the South Carolina Stingrays in the weekend finale at First Arena at 7:35 p.m. Last night, South Carolina defeated Elmira, 5-2. The Stingrays scored four times on 14 power-play opportunities in the victory.
DEMKOV CONTINUES TO DELIVER
Artem Demkov returned to the scoresheet on Friday, chipping in Elmira's first goal on the power play in the third period. Demkov has goals in four of five games this season and is tied for fourth in the ECHL with Trenton's Andy Bohmbach with five goals on the year.
CAPORUSSO COLLECTS FIRST PRO GOAL
Louie Caporusso scored his first professional goal at 15:26 of the third period, spinning around on a penalty shot and backhanding a puck past Stingrays goaltender Daren Machesney. The penalty-shot goal was the first in the ECHL of the 2011-2012 season and Elmira's first since A.J. Perry scored on a penalty shot on Jan. 30, 2011.
