IN JUST A FEW HOURS...
The Elmira Jackals and the Reading Royals close out their three-game weekend series at First Arena today at 4:05 p.m. The Jackals and the Royals have split the first two games of the series, with Elmira winning on Saturday night in Reading, 4-1, after falling to its rival on Friday at First Arena, 3-1. Elmira enters the action today with a four-point lead over the Wheeling Nailers for first place in the Atlantic Division. The Jackals trail the Greenville Road Warriors by two points for the top spot in the Eastern Conference. After today's game, fans are invited to stick around and skate with the Jackals on the First Arena ice.
RADJA RETURNS IN STYLE
Mike Radja returned to the Jackals from the AHL's Houston Aeros with a hat trick on Saturday night. The three-goal performance was the first of Radja's career, as he collected his 18th, 19th, and 20th tallies of the season. The hat trick was Elmira's first since Dec. 17, when Louie Caporusso scored three times in Kalamazoo, and was the third for the club in 2011-2012, as Evan Barlow also posted three goals for the Jackals in an opening-night win over Trenton on Oct. 14.
A RARE FEAT
For just the fifth time in 2011-2012 on Saturday, the Jackals won a game by more than two goals, earning their fourth three-goal win of the campaign. Elmira's biggest victory this season came in a 7-3 win over Trenton in the season opener. Of the Jackals' 60 games in 2011-2012, 49 have been decided by one or two goals.
