MacKenzie Called up to AHL Rochester

Defenseman Matt MacKenzie has been called up to the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League.

MacKenzie earned one assist in three games with the Gladiators after he was assigned to Gwinnett on February 28th. In 15 games this season with Rochester, MacKenzie has tallied three points, all assists, and is a +1 in the AHL.

The New Westminster, British Columbia native skated four years in the Western Hockey League with the Calgary Hitmen and the Tri-City Americans from 2007-2011. He earned 98 points (18 goals, 80 assists) in 225 career junior games. Mackenzie was selected by the Buffalo Sabres with the 83rd overall pick in the 3rd roung of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

The Gladiators are the ECHL Affiliate of the Buffalo Sabres and the Phoenix Coyotes of the National Hockey League and are members of the ECHL, the Premier "AA" Hockey League and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
