Isotopes Fend off Bees for First Win of 2018

April 6, 2018 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Albuquerque Isotopes News Release

The Isotopes (1-1) picked up their first victory of 2018 on Friday night behind a quality start from Matt Flemer and a four RBI performance from David Dahl, as Albuquerque defeated Salt Lake (1-1), 9-5, at Smith's Ballpark.

Flemer limited the Bees to two runs and five hits during his six innings on the mound. The right-hander retired the side in order for the first four innings of the contest before Salt Lake's Chris Carter and Rymer Liriano belted back-to-back home runs off of him in the bottom of the fifth. Flemer finished his outing with six strikeouts and one walk. The victory was his 15th in three seasons with the Isotopes, tying him for the third-most in team history with Aaron Small, Charlie Haeger and Stephen Fife.

Dahl ignited Albuquerque's offense, scoring it's first run of the game with an RBI groundout in the fifth inning. The 24-year-old outfielder added an RBI double in the seventh before closing out the night with a two-run single in the eighth inning.

Daniel Castro also collected three hits at the plate while Raimel Tapia went 2-for-4 with three runs scored, one double and a walk.

The Isotopes are back in action Saturday night for game three of their series against the Bees. Lefty Harrison Musgrave will make his season debut as well as his first start since suffering a finger injury last June. Salt Lake will send right-hander Jaime Barria to the bump. The game is scheduled to begin at 6:35 p.m.?
