Isotopes Fans Frenzied Over Franks

June 9, 2009 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Albuquerque Isotopes News Release

After a long night of counting at Isotopes Park, the results are finally in and it's evident that Albuquerque Isotopes fans love their hot dogs, as nearly 38,000 of the ballpark staples were consumed as part of the team's 50-Cent Hot Dog Extravaganza Monday night.

A season-high throng of 11,010 arrived early and were still streaming into the park by the middle innings to satisfy their hunger for hot dogs, devouring a total of 37,669 (and average of 3.42 dogs per person), the most ever eaten in an Isotopes promotion that dates back to the team's inaugural year in 2003. In fact, the previous record was set that season in the very first 50-Cent Hot Dog Night ever, when 35,468 of the delicacies were devoured.

The Isotopes wrap up their short, four-game series today with an always-popular business-person's special before getting a much-deserved league-wide day off and then hitting the road for a series in Round Rock, Texas.

The 'Topes are back in town on Thursday, June 18 for an eight-game homestand that includes a baseball card giveaway, Myron Noodleman appearance, and a very special Father's Day celebration, complete with BBQ apron giveaway, pre-game father/child catch, and a jersey auction benefitting prostate cancer awareness. Tickets for any Isotopes game may be purchased at the Isotopes Park Box Office, at Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at 1-800-745-3000, or on-line at www.albuquerquebaseball.com or www.ticketmaster.com.
