Albuquerque Isotopes News Release

Chihuahuas 6 (5-3), Isotopes 3 (1-7) - Southwest University Park | El Paso, Tex.

AT THE DISH: In his first rehab game, Brendan Rodgers played five innings, going 2-for-3 with an RBI single ... Isotopes starting pitcher Ryan Castellani went 2-for-2 with a double and also scored his club's first run of the night. Brian Serven had two hits including a double. Albuquerque trailed 5-1 heading into the seventh inning but kept things interesting courtesy of a Sam Hilliard RBI groundout in the seventh and a Nick Longhi run-scoring single to plate Greg Bird in the eighth. Longhi now has a team-best six-game hitting streak.

TOEING THE RUBBER: Isotopes starter Ryan Castellani (1-1, 6.00) surrendered five hits and four earned runs in the first two innings, but settled into a rhythm towards the end of his evening. The right-hander retired seven of the last eight batters he faced. Castellani walked three batters and struck out one as he was charged with the loss ... Dereck Rodriguez recorded just one out and gave up a run in his Isotopes debut ... Jesus Tinoco and Zac Rosscup both worked scoreless outings, as Tinoco retired all five hitters he faced and Rosscup struck out the side after giving up a leadoff hit in the seventh.

TOPES TIDBITS: The Isotopes finished with 10 hits in the contest, the first time they have recorded double digits in the hit column since also picking up 10 in the 2019 regular season finale on Labor Day at Fresno. Albuquerque pitchers did not allow a home run, marking the first time they have kept their opponent in the yard in consecutive contests since Aug. 28-29, 2019 vs. Las Vegas.

ON DECK: The Isotopes and Chihuahuas are back in action tomorrow from El Paso when Kyle Freeland takes the hill for the Isotopes in his first Major League rehabilitation start.
