Sacramento River Cats News Release

Oklahoma City, Okla. - The Sacramento River Cats (4-4) produced four two-out RBIs to win on Friday, defeating the Oklahoma City Dodgers (1-7) for their second straight 5-2 win.

Down 1-0 in the fifth inning, Sacramento center fielder Bryce Johnson came through with a clutch two-out double to plate third baseman Mitchell Tolman. One inning later, the River Cats took the lead when left fielder Joe McCarthy doubled home catcher Joey Bart.

Oklahoma City seriously threatened Sacramento's lead in the bottom of the sixth, loading the bases with two outs against right-hander Daniel Alvarez (1-0), before righty Tyler Cyr entered on a double-switch to try and record the biggest out of the night. Cyr was able to get pinch-hitter Carlos Asuaje with an inning-ending fly out to protect the 2-1 lead.

Following Cyr's escape job, the River Cats found some important breathing room with two two-out RBI hits in the seventh inning. Left fielder Jason Krizan doubled home Johnson and scored on Bart's single. Krizan added another two-out RBI in the ninth when he singled home shortstop Thairo Estrada to make it 5-2.

Right-hander Tyler Beede (0-0 with a 6.75 ERA) continues his comeback from 2020 Tommy John surgery, making his third rehab start of 2021 in game three of the series. He draws Oklahoma City right-hander Aaron Wilkerson (0-1 with a 13.50 ERA) on Saturday. First pitch is set for 5:05 p.m. (PT). The Dodgers took a third-inning 1-0 lead when Zach Reks homered off right-hander Kervin Castro. Reks added a second RBI in the seventh when he singled home catcher Keibert Ruiz.

Reks' home run was the second Castro has surrendered in 3.0 innings this season, tying the total he allowed in 89.2 MiLB innings from 2016-2019.

Sacramento right-handed pitcher Sam Wolff made his season debut. The 30-year-old reliever walked one and struck out two in a scoreless eighth inning.
