Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release
Rochester, New York - The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (78-63, 42-26) survived a late surge from the Rochester Red Wings (63-76, 29-37) to grab a 6-5 win in 10 innings on Saturday night at Innovative Field
With two outs in the second inning, Jim Haley legged out a triple for the IronPigs and Drew Ellis followed with a single to plate him, putting the IronPigs ahead 1-0.
Brewer Hicklen doubled the lead for the IronPigs with a solo homer in the sixth, his second of the season for the IronPigs.
Brady Lindsly tied the game for Rochester with a two-run homer in the eighth, only to see the IronPigs get a two-run homer from Drew Ellis, his 13th of the season, and a bases loaded walk to Dustin Peterson to put Lehigh Valley back ahead 5-2.
Down to their final strike with two outs on both occasions, the Red Wings got an RBI single from Erick Mejia and a two-run triple from Frankie Tostado to tie the game at 5-5 in the last of the ninth.
In the 10th, Darick Hall ripped a single to rightfield to plate the placed runner, putting the IronPigs back on top 6-5. Andrew Bellatti (S, 5) allowed just a walk in the bottom of the 10th, stranding two runners on to convert the save and clinch the 6-5 victory.
