
IronBirds Walk-Off Again

Aberdeen IronBirds News Release
Trailing, 2-0 in the ninth inning, the IronBirds scored three times in the ninth to walk-off with a 3-2 win over the Lowell Spinners in their final regular season home game of 2015. Drew Turbin beat out a double play to score the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth.
The Deficit
The IronBirds found themselves behind by two runs after Jhon Nunez hit a sacrifice fly to left to score the game's first run in the third, followed by an RBI ground out by Mitch Gunsolus in the sixth.
Two in a Row
Aberdeen had only one hit to speak of heading into the ninth, but they scored three runs on four hits and saved their playoff hopes. DJ Stewart started the rally by reaching on an error by Aneudis Peralta at second. Alex Murphy singled to put runners at first and second before Steve Laurino brought the IronBirds to within one with an RBI single to right. Oswill Lartiguez followed up his heroics from Thursday by tying the game one batter later on an RBI single to left. Ryan Mountcastle loaded the bases with an infield single leaving the game in the hands of Drew Turbin. Turbin one hopped a ball back to the pitchers mound, where Bobby Poyner lost it for a moment, found it, then threw to second. The Spinners would record the out at second, but Drew Turbin beat the throw to first, giving the IronBirds the 3-2 win.
Bird Watching
The IronBirds won their second straight game in walk-off fashion... It was their fifth walk-off in 2015, only one of which has been with a hit... Oswill Lartiguez had the IronBirds only hit before the ninth inning, a double in the second inning... Lartiguez posted another mult-hit game, his third in four games.
