
Hudson Valley Wins Series Finale Over Vermont

Burlington, VT - The Hudson Valley Renegades defeated the Vermont Lake Monsters by a score of 6-4 on Friday evening at Centennial Field. With the result, the Renegades saw their record improve to 38-35 while Vermont falls to 31-41.
Hudson Valley's center fielder Garrett Whitley reached on an error with one out in the top of the second inning, stole second base and scored on a RBI double from left fielder Jose Paez to give the Renegades a 1-0 lead. That lead was extended to 2-0 in the top of the third inning as shortstop Joseph Astacio tripled and scored on a RBI single from second baseman Oscar Sanay.
The Renegades scored two runs in the top of the fourth inning as catcher Danny De La Calle hit a RBI triple to drive in Paez, who was hit by a pitch earlier in the inning. Astacio then brought home De La Calle on a RBI single, bringing the Hudson Valley lead to 4-0
Vermont scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning on a RBI double from first baseman Chris Iriart, a RBI single from center fielder Skye Bolt, and a two-run home run from third baseman Ryan Howell, tying the score at 4-4.
The Renegades broke the deadlock in the top of the sixth inning on a two-out RBI single from first baseman Hector Montes. The Hudson Valley lead grew to 6-4 in the top of the seventh inning as designated hitter Nic Wilson hit a RBI single with the bases loaded.
Hudson Valley relief pitcher Tim Ingram (2-1) earned the win as he tossed three scoreless innings while striking out two batters. Reece Karalus tossed two shutout innings and struck out three batters en route to picking up his third save of the season. Cody Kurz (0-4) took the loss for Vermont after allowing two runs in two innings of relief work.
Notes: Hudson Valley's Joseph Astacio capped off a strong road trip with a two-for-four effort at the plate on Friday evening with two runs scored and a RBI. The Dominican Republic native started six of the games that the Renegades played during the road trip and picked up hits in five contests, including four multi-hit games. Astacio also drove in five runs and scored three as well.
